Karin has been an artist most of her life. She won numerous art awards, taught art for most of that time in various venues such as museums, in private adult groups and after school programs. She has also been the president of a national art club in New York City and has participated in many competitions.
She started studying art seriously in High School in the Art Honors program and pursued a double major in college in animal behavior and art. She graduated with a BA from Boston University after being part of a program to train monkeys that aid quadriplegics. She has earned an associate degree in Illustration from Pratt Manhattan in New York City and went to Aix- en -Provence France to study the post impressionists. Some of her best classes, however, were at the Art Students League and the National Academy in New York City.
Karin became the youngest President of the Catharine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club in NYC, a 100-year-old women’s society of professional artists that have an annual show every year at the National Arts Club in New York, and juried shows every year. She was also the member of The Society of Animal Artists, The Guild of Natural Science Illustrators, among others.
Karin’s work strives for serenity and contemplation in nature and conveys the emotions of expansive freedom in the natural world. She is primarily an oil painter but has experience in many other mediums as well.
