Temporary Exhibition - June 16th - July 7th
My art practice, like my life in Maine, is an on going adventure. I work in various mediums and have always been drawn to charcoal. Sketching in nature gives me time to observe and be inspired by the way light filters through the tress or affects the colors of a landscape or a seascape. I venture out in all kinds of weather. The cold forces me to work quickly. When I lose myself in the process, the unexpected happens. I love the mark-making of charcoal, poastel and graphite. It's an ongoing process where the work takes a life of its own.
I have raised my two children in Rockport, renovated an old house and worked as an architectural designer, educator and artist. Recently, I have been "messing about in boats" restoring an old Herresmhoff 12&1/2, which was kindly bestowed to me by the Evarts family in Vinalhaven, and I have honored it with the name WREN. Spending time sailing WREN and with the crew for the Schooner Heron out of Rockport has been a life long dream.
